Aerial Filming

South Coast Helicopters (SCH) are South Australian Based aerial filming specialists.

We offer a unique and cost-effective solution for high definition gyro stabilised aerial filming.

The Robinson R44 helicopter is considered one of the most cost effective aerial platforms in the world. We then needed to find a versatile camera mount system, SCH were the first helicopter company in Australia to acquire the Zatz R44 nose mount fitted with our Cineflex V12, fully digital 5-axis gyro stabilised gimbal, housing the Ikegami HDL F31 Camera.

Light, compact, and entirely digital, the five-axis gyro-stabilized camera system comes standard with a full-bandwidth Ikegami 1080i HD Camera matched with a Canon HD Series 22x (44x with extender) zoom lens for crisp images. Options include 1080p, 24p frame rate, and digital extender. Camera and lens are housed in a rugged nose-mounted gimbal that rotates 360° to track subjects and to film from any angle. The camera is operated through a laptop console located in the ENG workstation compartment. Along with all of the camera functions, features include a joy stick controller for X, Y, and Z-axis movements, snap-zoom, transmit, intercom, and video switches.

The HDL-F31 is a top-of-the-line multi-purpose compact 3CCD HDTV Camera equipped with high resolution 2.3 Megapixel AIT sensor. The HDL-F31 offers super high sensitivity, starting with F10 sensitivity sensor, and offering +54dB gain up, Column Adding, and Frame Accumulation functions. The super high sensitivity combined with a Digital Extender feature make the HDL-F31 ideal for airborne gyro stabilized ENG and law enforcement use. Also the Horizontal Reverse and Line Delay features will support 3D video production.

Gyro-stabilized Flir Thermal Imaging System

South Coast Helicopters also own a FLIR Systems' Ultra 8000 Thermal Imaging Camera. This is a multi-sensor, compact, lightweight turret with excellent infrared sensitivity. The Ultra 8000 incorporates an infrared sensor with 10x optical zoom, and a daylight sensor with 18x optical zoom. The gimbal rotates 360 degrees and its stabilization technology enables crisp, detailed images.
